Austin Social Security Disability Attorney Michael Lovins
Michael Lovins was born and raised in South Dakota. After graduating from high school in Rapid City, he came to Texas as quickly as he could to attend Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He pursued a double major in Economics and Philosophy, and a minor in Political Science, and he graduated with honors from SMU in 1997. Since he was a child, Michael knew he was interested in being a lawyer, but he wanted to explore other things before committing to law school. Michael then worked as a financial analyst, trying to convince himself that he did not want to be a lawyer. Life as a financial analyst was fine, but he still wanted to practice law. Michael began law school at The University of Texas School of Law in 1998 and graduated in 2001.
Immediately following law school, Michael landed a highly coveted job as a law clerk to U.S. Federal Judge James R. Nowlin. At that time, Judge Nowlin was the Chief Judge for the Western District of Texas, which is one of the largest federal districts in the United States with one of the heaviest dockets. Following this federal clerkship, Michael spent 4 1/2 years as an attorney with the law firm McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore, LLP (now known as McGinnis Lochridge, LLP), a highly respected Texas law firm based in Austin. One of the first cases he was assigned at McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore, was a complex, multi-venue dispute between two Texas energy companies. Lovins continued working in high stakes complex commercial disputes representing major corporations as well as small businesses. In March 2007, Michael followed his entrepreneurial instincts and founded The Law Offices of Michael E. Lovins. In this new venture, he focused primarily on assisting individuals and small businesses who have been harmed by the irresponsibility, carelessness, indifference, or maliciousness of others. To better serve his clients, Michael partnered with Pete Trosclair and later Curtis Graves. Michael lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife of twenty-one years, their very active three kids, and one spoiled dog appropriately named Fancy.
